Tbilisi, July 10 (Xinhua) — About 2,600 parks and squares, with a total area of 375 hectares, were improved and reconstructed in the Georgian capital Tbilisi from 2018 to 2025, Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi Andria Basilaia said while summing up the environmental and nature conservation projects implemented in the capital in recent years.

"The culture of parks has returned to Tbilisi. Today, almost every green space, be it a small square or a large park, has become a popular place for city residents to relax," noted A. Basilaia.

One of the priorities, according to him, was the restoration of urban forests. Since 2018, more than 142 hectares of forest have been restored and renewed, where over 80 thousand trees have been planted.

As part of the urban greening program, 36 new fountains were also installed in Tbilisi.

The Deputy Mayor emphasized that such initiatives not only contribute to improving the urban ecology, but also improve the quality of life of the population, creating a comfortable and healthy environment for all age groups. –0–
