Yerevan, July 5 (Xinhua) — Armenia celebrated the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the country's constitution on Saturday. A festive event was held at the Alexander Spendiaryan National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater in Yerevan with the participation of the Armenian leadership, representatives of the legislative and executive authorities, as well as diplomatic missions.
In his address to the audience, the press service of the head of government reports, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the importance of the constitution in the formation of statehood, the development of the legal system and society. At the same time, he noted that Armenia needs a new constitution approved by a nationwide vote.
The Constitution of the Republic of Armenia was adopted by referendum on July 5, 1995. It was amended based on the results of referendums held on November 27, 2005 and December 6, 2015. –0–
